Agent Casts Doubt On Dzvukamanja's Bidvest Wits Future

Terrence Dzvukamanja’s agent, Mike Makaab, has said his clients at Bidvest Wits may leave the club after it was sold to businessman Masala Mulaudzi.

Speaking to Soccer Laduma, Makaab said Dzvukamanja and other two clients – Brighton Mhlongo and Lorenzo Gordinho will not be bound to the contracts if the club relocates to Venda. Said Makaab:

We all know that in any industry if I apply for a job or I am headhunted and employed in a certain geographical region – that is one of the terms of my employment.

If I am in Gauteng and have a family there, that’s the place I want to live. If the company relocates, they can’t terminate your contract, but they can give you the option of going with them to where they’ve relocated or let you move on.

I know football is slightly different from the normal industry, but it is governed by the same laws. It’s a material term of employment as I understand it.

However, Wits chairman Alan Fainman said last week in an announcement about the sale of the club, that existing players’ contracts would not be affected.

Mulaudzi has confirmed that he is awaiting approval from the Premier Soccer League to have his new team relocated to Venda and renamed.
