Govt Decided On An Enhanced Lockdown Last Week Acting On Threats Which Civilians Never Know Beforehand – Charamba

The President’s Press secretary George Charamba has commented on reports that security agents were enforcing lockdowns in some parts of the country like Bulawayo and Kwekwe and said they got wind that some civilians were planning some mischief to coincide with the African Child Day celebrations.

Mr Charamba explained the reason why the government had to enhance lockdown enforcement:

The State decided on an enhanced lockdown last week acting on the basis of information and threats which civilians never know beforehand, will never know unless informed.

Those who had planned mischief to coincide with the June 16 Day of the African Child, in the hope of misappropriating it for own ends know why what happened did.

More important, they should know all the evil they plan is in the full glare of the watchful State. Hazviite; hazvisi kuzoitika, hazvizomboitika! Keep within the four corners of the law and follow tenets of lawful, peaceful opposition, and your days on this Earth as opposition will be added! Kuyambirana pachi pedo!

This comes barely a week after the security service council addressed a press conference dismissing imminent coup rumours a move that sparked controversy all over social media as people speculated that the government was afraid of an internal uprising.
