ZIFA Lies To FIFA - Report

ZIFA has reportedly lied to FIFA that the Gift Banda case is before the appeals committee when infact the appeals committee upheld Banda’s acquittal by ZIFA’s disciplinary committee, The Chronicle reports.

According to the publication, ZIFA notified FIFA that the case was before the appeals committee on Thursday as evidenced by the response by a FIFA spokesperson when probed for a response on the matter, FIFA spokesperson said:

Fifa has been informed by Zifa that the case of Mr Banda currently sits with the appeals committee and will reach a final decision in due course. For more information we kindly refer you to Zifa.

However, the matter was settled as the appeals committee upheld the disciplinary committee’s ruling that acquitted Gift Banda and said he didn’t commit any crime. ZIFA appealed the decision but failed to raise the $125 000 needed to appeal the case, which prompted the appeals committee to uphold the disciplinary committee ruling.
