Canada Extends CA$1 Million Humanitarian Aid To Feed 66 000+ People In Zimbabwe

Canada has through the World Food Program extended humanitarian aid to Zimbabwe worth CA$1 Million to help the Southern Africa nation feed at least 66,000 people experiencing acute food insecurity.

Speaking about the donation, Canadian Ambassador René Cremonese said Canada stands with Zimbabwe to fight hunger and address food insecurity:

Canada is standing with the people of Zimbabwe in addressing food insecurity by providing this additional funding to the WFP to help many suffering severe food insecurity. It’s essential to be especially supportive in these trying times of COVID-19.

While acknowledging the donation, WFP Zimbabwe Country Director and Representative Eddie Rowe thanked the Canadian government and said:

WFP would like to thank the Government of Canada for its continuing commitment to the people of Zimbabwe. This backing will advance our shared ambition of improving the well-being of food insecure people in drought-affected areas.
