Bulawayo Family Bars Family Member From Coming Home After Escaping Quarantine

A Bulawayo family has reportedly barred a family member who has escaped from quarantine to come home, The Chronicle reports. The matter came to light after the family member surrendered himself to the police after he couldn’t continue to live on the streets.

The men who had escaped from Bulawayo Polytechnic quarantine centre to go home to Mzilikazi was told he will only be accepted at his home after he finishes mandatory quarantine by his family members.

The incident was confirmed by ZRP National Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi who hailed the family for making such a decision:

We have a case of an escapee from a quarantine centre in Bulawayo. He escaped from the Bulawayo Polyethnic quarantine centre. He was refused entry home by his family and was arrested days later by the police and taken to court after he had presented himself back at the quarantine centre.

We would like to commend the actions of the family for putting public health first and not allowing him to join the family without finishing his days on quarantine. If all of us act in such a manner, then the efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19 will yield more results.
