ZANU PF Launches War Veterans Wing

The ruling ZANU PF party has launched a War Veterans League which will co-exist alongside other party wings like the Main Wing, Youth and Women’s League.

The launch was done at Altena Farm in Muzarabani District, where the first shots of the Second Chimurenga war were fired on December 21, 1972.

The inception of the War Veterans League is in line with the resolutions of the 2019 Zanu PF conference that was held in Goromonzi.

Speaking at the launch, Zanu PF Secretary for War Veterans Affairs Douglas Mahiya said the development is unprecedented. He said:

I want to thank President Emmerson Mnangagwa because something like this had never happened in our party.

This is a thing that has been done by the party leadership so we are all in agreement.  We have gathered here to create leadership so that it can do political work.

The Zanu PF War Veterans League will be made up of members of the ruling party only, unlike the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association which accommodates all war veterans, including those that do not support the ruling party.
