Mahere: ZANU PF Using Khupe & Mwonzora To Dismember “Genuine” MDC

MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere says the military takeover of Harvest House, the party’s headquarters, and handing it over to Thokozani Khupe, leader of the MDC-T proves that the latter is being used by the ruling ZANU PF party to destroy the Alliance.

Mahere made the remarks while speaking to reporters on Friday afternoon outside the party’s headquarters soon after six MDC Alliance officials were arrested by police. She said:

This puts paid and completely supports what we have said that (Thokozani) Khupe and (Douglas) Mwonzora are being used by Zanu PF to dismember the genuine MDC, we will resist this and we will fight back politically and resist what has taken place.

… Even if they do believe they have a right to the building which I assert they do not if what they are doing is competent why have they not used the deputy sheriff, why are they coming in the middle of the night, why are those soldiers armed?

MDC Alliance co-vice presidents, Tendai Biti and Lynette Karenyi Kore, among other officials, intended to address reporters at the Harvest House, now known as Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House when they were arrested.

In a post on Twitter, the party said its deputy youth spokesperson Womberai Nhende was unable to talk after being badly beaten by police at Harare Central.
