"The Rest Of The Public Should Stay At Home," Police
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has urged members of the public who do no offer essential services to stay at home in adherence to lockdown regulations.
The statement was issued after this police the police turned away a huge number of people tat intended to get into Harare City Centre. Posting on Twitter on Tuesday, the police said:
The ZRP urges members of the public to observe that the country is still under level two National lockdown in order to manage the COVID-19 pandemic. Only essential services, businesses in the formal commercial and industrial sectors were exempted to operate during this period.
The rest of the public should stay at home in order for the nation to curtail the increase in new COVID-19 cases being recorded. Please note that it is not everyone who should be in the CBD. Let us all be security and health-conscious in view of the increase of COVID-19 cases.
Zimbabwe is under lockdown level 2 for an indefinite period. Extending the lockdown, President Mnangagwa announced that the economy had reopened partially meaning that some sectors of the economy were now allowed to resume operations.
In the recent past, the citizenry flooded towns across the country and officers enforcing the lockdown would allow them to pass as long as they had letters from their employers suggesting that they were part of the skeletal team allowed to work during the lockdown.
