Zimbabweans are having a hard time today trying to purchase cheap electricity that is usually available on the first purchase of the month. People have been complaining all over social media that they cannot buy electricity through normal payment platforms as they are saying the transactions are not going through.
One of the platforms that is used to purchase electricity Paynow has even warned consumers that the system is not working in a message on their website which reads:
Our sincere apologies, ZESA Pre-Paid payments have been temporarily disabled
EcoCash while responding to a Twimbo on Twitter also said the service was experiencing some challenges in a tweet that reads:
The ZESA platform is currently intermittent and we would advise that you try later
CBZ took the time to notify its customers that they have disabled the service at the moment.
Hi, please note that we have disabled the service for now because ZESA system is down. We apologize for any inconvenience caused
ZESA has not yet released a statement to address the situation. We will update this article if/when the situation changes.

People can be really ignorant sometimes: you do not have to pay specifically on the 1st of each month to get ‘cheap electricity’. Before month end, buy enough electricity to last you until about the 8th or 10th day of the following month, then you can still buy ‘cheap electricity’ when you buy for the first time that month, and there will be no queues. YOU DO NOT GET CHEAP ELECTRICITY ONLY ON THE 1ST DAY OF EACH MONTH – YOU GET IT FOR YOUR FIRST PURCHASE OF THAT MONTH.
