New Ebola Outbreak Hits DRC As The Country Records 4 Ebola Deaths

DRC has announced a new Ebola outbreak in DRC’s Mbandaka District which is over 1000 km away from another outbreak in the country, France 24 reports.

The new outbreak was confirmed by the country’s Health Minister Eteni Longondo who confirmed 4 people have died after testing positive for the virus after their specimens were tested in the country’s capital Kinshasa:

We have a new Ebola epidemic in Mbandaka. We are going to very quickly send them the vaccine and medicine.

WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus confirmed the outbreak and said:

This outbreak is a reminder that #COVID19 is not the only health threat people face

In April health officials were devastated after one person tested positive for Ebola just days before WHO was about to announce the epidemic over.
