ED To Address The Nation During Lockdown Reviews Only 'When Necessary'

President Emmerson Mnangagwa will no longer address the nation during lockdown reviews as this will now be a mandate of the Inter-Ministerial taskforce on COVID-19.

Mnangagwa announced two weeks ago that the country would continue on Level Two lockdown for an indefinite period with regular two-week reviews to assess progress or lack of it in the battle to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Citizens were on Saturday expecting to hear from the Head of State and Government on the way forward since the first two-week interval expired on Sunday.

However, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Ndavaningi Nick Mangwana told Sunday News that the taskforce, headed by Vice-President Kembo Mohadi will give the reviews. Mangwana said:

President Mnangagwa will only address the nation (during the reviews) when necessary. The inter-ministerial taskforce on Covid-19 will be tasked with giving the fortnightly reviews.
