Coltart Questions Why Thokozani Khupe Was Not Arrested For Breaching Lockdown Restrictions

MDC Alliance Treasury General David Coltart has said the case of Thkozani Khupe defying lockdown restrictions to visit the late party’s icon Morgan Tsvangirai’s grave yesterday presents an acid test for the police. If they do not arrest her, it shows they are selectively applying the law after they arrested 3 MDC Alliance activists who took part in a demo over a fortnight ago.

Coltart tweeted:

Once again we see the selective application of the law in #ZImbabwe . 3 young women are accused of breaching #Covid19 laws & are abducted, tortured, arrested & prosecuted. Thuko Khupe brazenly breaches the same laws but because she is a Mnangagwa ally she gets off scot free.

Coltart’s sentiments were echoed by Team Pachedu which also said:

If the police do not arrest Khupe for violating the lockdown regulations and ignore the abundant evidence, this is additional evidence that the police are partisan and that MDC-T is nothing else, but a ZANU-PF project.
