Nehemiah Aids Relief Projects Distributes Food Packs To Commercial S_ex Workers In Bulawayo

A faith-based organisation has extended a helping hand to commercial s_ex workers who are affected by the indefinite lockdown, Sunday News reports.

Nehemiah Aids Relief Projects is reportedly distributing food packs to the workers in Bulawayo who can not go to work because of the lockdown. The organisation is also working with the Bulawayo City Council to disseminate information to the s_ex workers.

In an interview with the publication, the organisation’s director Ms Emsipa Nare said:

The organisation has been involved in food distribution at Ithemba Centre, in Cowdray Park, to its project beneficiaries who include women in sex work who are currently unable to raise income due to the lockdown, as well as its volunteers and staff members. Further, with our partners, Nehemiah Project together with other organisations has been going around the city sensitising people on coronavirus; its transmission, signs and symptoms, prevention measures and emphasising the importance of adhering to lockdown measures

The organisation also gave the s_ex workers money to start small businesses during the lockdown according to some workers who spoke to the publication. Zimbabwe this week enters its 8th week of the lockdown which started on 30 March 2020.
