"Justice For A Few Individuals Is Not Enough" - Human Rights Defender

Thandekile Moyo a Zimbabwean writer and human rights defender has said Zimbabwe needs a holistic approach to addressing violation of human rights.

She speaks when there are increased calls for authorities to ensure that the recent victims of police violence – two sisters assaulted in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo and three MDC Alliance officials – Joannah Mamombe, Cecilia Chimbiri and Netsai Marova, get imminent justice.

Posting on Twitter, Moyo proposed the removal of the ruling ZNU PF from power since it is the “perpetrator of the abuses.” She said:

Just got a text from my research assistant, He’s like Mamo doesn’t seem like there’ll be justice for those Cowdray Park sisters we should do something.

I said look, I’m tired. We can’t get justice only for certain people & not others you see, We need a revolution, #ZanuPFMustGo

Moyo who has for the past four years been using print, digital and social media to expose human rights abuses, bad governance and corruption joins scores of people who have called for the total overhaul of the “oppressive” system.

Meanwhile, in its denial of the allegations, ZANU PF pushes two theories: the kidnappings are being stage-managed and or a third force is behind the kidnappings to tarnish the government’s image.
