Zimbabwe Considers Use Of Chinese Herbal Medicine Against Coronavirus

Health and Child Care Minister, Obadiah Moyo has said Zimbabwe is considering the use of Chinese traditional medicine to fight COVID-19.

Minister Moyo said this during a briefing with the Chinese medical team that is on a two-week exchange visit to pass on their knowledge of controlling and treating the disease and offering advice after looking at Zimbabwean systems. He said:

We are considering the use of Chinese traditional medicine in our COVID-19 response. China also used this for its response at the height of the pandemic in Wuhan. Chinese traditional medicine is very highly recommended, so we really want to follow and learn.

The visiting 12-member team from central China’s Hunan Province brought a consignment of medical supplies including ventilators, nucleic acid testing kits, face masks and medical protective suits.

However, Minister Moyo said the country is still facing an acute shortage of test kits and personal protective equipment (PPE) amid reports claiming that thousands of COVID-19 samples collected across the country have not been tested.
