Lubimbi Toddler Burns To Death In A Bedroom Hut Fire

An unfortunate incident occurred in Matebeleland North’s Lubimbi in Chiboni Village under Chief Kavula, on the boundary of Dete and Binga where a 3-year-old girl died after the bedroom she was sleeping in was gutted by fire on Sunday, The Chronicle reports.

The incident was confirmed by Matabeleland North police spokesperson Chief Inspector Siphiwe Makonese who said:

We received a report about a child who died when a bedroom hut she was sleeping in caught fire in Lubimbi. We are investigating what could have happened and the cause of the fire.

We appeal to people to have extra care especially with regards to children who should be guarded all the time. Extra care should be given to children to protect them against all sorts of accidents the same way we appeal for their protection for different kinds of abuse.

According to Inspector Makonese, the girl’s mother and her husband had gone to fetch water when they returned to find the house in which the toddler was sleeping in on fire.
