Ziyambi Indirectly Confirms ZRP Is Not Investigating The MDC Alliance Activist’s Abduction & Torture

Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi who also happens to be the head of government business in parliamentary when asked in senate about the government’s actions toward the abduction of 3 MDC Alliance activist repeatedly said the police were investigating their involvement in an illegal demo, New Zimbabwe reports

When asked what the state was doing in making sure such abductions won’t happen in future, Ziyambi Ziyambi answered:

Police are keen to interrogate the three MDC young women leaders who led a demonstration during a Covid-19 lockdown restriction.

I acknowledge the allegations that these three decided to hold a demo under lockdown conditions. I am not sure whether they were tortured or not. Police are keen to interrogate them over the protests. As government, we have no reason to abduct anyone

When Mwonzora asked if he was insinuating that the police are not investigating the abduction and torture of the activists, Ziyambi Ziyambi said:

It is a fact that these people broke the law. They are wanted by the police to explain their demonstration. I am not sure, maybe, they are happy being in hospital but police are waiting for them. If they have a complaint to lodge with the police, they are free to do so.

Ziyambi Ziyambi reportedly also said Joana Mamombe drove her car to ZRP Harare Central Police station and parked it there for an unknown reason. Joana’s car being found at Harare Central Police Station after ZRP denied her ever being in their custody fueled stories that the ladies were abducted out of police custody by suspected state agents

  1. The same thing with the so called minister of justice. I don’t see any quality from him that makes him capable of holding such an office. He proves to be a bush lawyer. If he is a lawyer, I question the credibility of the institution that churns out such useless people as lawyers. What does it portrays to the whole world about the way you should handle human rights issues? Instead of assuring the world that as a minister you are doing something yet as the citizens know that you cant investigate yourself for such heinous crimes. You’re much concerned about the lockdown regulations which have little or no effect on human rights. You are a shame and disgrace to the legal fraternity ,institution that trained you and the appointing authority. Saka une zita rengozi nxaa
