Polls are currently underway in Burundi despite the contagious deadly pandemic ravaging the world, SABC News reports. According to the publication, the 2020 elections are the first presidential elections since the country went through a civil war in 1993. Social media applications were cut off ahead of the polls and the country’s President Pierre Nkurunziza will be stepping down after 15 years in power.
