MDC Alliance High Court Appeal Postponed, MPs Safe For Now

The High Court on Monday deferred to Wednesday the hearing of an MDC Alliance interdict to stop the MDC-T led by Thokozani Khupe from further recalling its legislators from Parliament.

The postponement entails that MDC-T cannot recall any MDC Alliance legislators until the matter is finalised.

This comes amid reports that reinstated MDC-T secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora was about to recall six more MDC Alliance legislators aligned to Nelson Chamisa.

Earlier this month, Mwonzora recalled for key MDC Alliance legislators, Chalton Hwende, Thabitha Khumalo, Prosper Mutseyami and Lilian Timveos.

The four were the leaders of the MDC Alliance in Parliament, Khumalo, being the party Chairperson was the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly while Timveos was the leader of the opposition in the Senate.

Mutseyami was the MDC Alliance Chief Whip while Chalton Hwende is the Secretary-General of the party.
