Mwonzora & Komichi Request For Police Protection Unit Amid Rising Threats From Rivals - Report

Morgen Komichi and Douglas Mwonzora have reportedly sought police protection amid rising threats from rivals, Business times reports. This is after the court controversially ruled that the duo were to be recognised as the legitimate secretary-general and national chairman of the party.

The duo has reportedly applied for Police Protection Unit (PPU) which is responsible for protecting VIPS in the country and other designated persons.

This was revealed by Komichi who spoke to the publication and said he received physical and verbal threats from MDC Alliance supporters:

I know that many of them [party leaders] are being intimidated by our political rivals and we need police protection whenever the need arises especially these days we are in the process of reorganising the party structures and delegates for the elective congress as ordered by the Supreme Court ruling

We do not want violence as we know that some of the MDC youths at the Harvest House are threatening us with violence and we want to warn them that the law will take its course and we are going to be making a report to the police about the threat.
