ZRP Denies Having Any MDC Members In Custody

ZRP has dismissed social media reports claiming that they have MDC members in custody. This was revealed by ZRP National Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi who said they had not arrested anyone in connection with the demo neither were the people who were rumoured to be in their custody actually in custody.

In a statement Assitant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police dismisses all social media reports insinuating that the police have detained or has custody of some MDC Alliance members. Some MDC Alliance members including Johanna Mamombe, Obey Sithole, Ostallous Siziba, Stanley Manyenga and Justin Chidziva were involved in an illegal flash demonstration in Warren Park, Harare on 13th May 2020.

This was after social media circulated stories that MDC who participated in a demo in Warren Park on Wednesday were in police custody.
