President Mnangagwa To Address The Nation On COVID-19 Today
President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to address the nation on the novel coronavirus later today. This comes when the business community and some members of the public have urged the government to lift the COVID-19-induced lockdown in a bid to save the struggling economy.
The expected address was announced by ZBC News on twitter in a post which read:
#COVID-19 address to the nation by H.E. President @edmnangagwa later today on ZTV, our 6 radio stations and also the digital and online platforms.
FeedbackZimbabwe first announced a three-week lockdown in March and then extended that, prior to the latest extension which is due to expire this Sunday.
The latest extension ushered the country into ‘level 2’ which saw some regulations relaxed to allow some sectors of the economy to resume operations.

Mnangagwa has already hinted on extending the lockdown saying that he would put people’s lives ahead of the economy.
The lockdown has shuttered an economy struggling with acute shortages of foreign currency, food, electricity and medicines.
