Following an interview of controversial religious leader and Presidential Advisory Council member, Shingi Munyeza on Heart and Soul Radio, writer and activist, Thandekile Moyo posted a thread on Twitter advising Zimbabweans not to listen to him.

Munyeza who is still PAC member and has said he still serves at the pleasure of President Mnangagwa has been criticising the government publicly recently.

In her thread, Moyo criticizes Munyeza for lacking sincerity in his advice to Zimbabweans.

The full thread below:

But guys. Be serious please. So we are actually going to allow ourselves to be advised by Mnangagwa’s advisor Shingi Munyeza, On how to remove Mnangagwa and ZanuPf from power? Forgive me for asking this, But: Are we ok upstairs??

Shingi is buying time for the regime, Negotiating for dialogue on behalf of the regime. He talked about the GNU, Spoke of an inclusive process that will include all stakeholders, Which would be great as that’s what we’ve been wanting, But not with Zanu in power!

In the interview Shingi was clear that when he says rise up he doesn’t mean protests. He said it twice, protests are not the way.
So how else does one rise up against a ruthless repressive and brutally violent regime?
He says the regime will die a natural death!

A man on a mission will say all the right things. Zanu & army know exactly what we all want to hear. Shingi telling us we must listen to each other’s a joke! Who here did he listen to when people were telling him the same things he’s preaching today? Let’s wise up.

He talks of dialogue, Which at this point serves only Zanu which is trying to save itself from a revolution. We can’t allow dialogue at the mercy of Zanu! Dialogue should come only AFTER a process that removes Zanu from power. We can’t dialogue with them in power.

In a people’s mvt, Everyone must be given a chance. But we must be vigilant, Especially if there’s danger of the regime manipulating the revolution. As someone who believes ZanuPf has to go, I worry when a ZanuPf advisor comes and advises us too. How does that work?

Shingi says problem is system which is true. Refuses to finger individuals, even military that’s been killing anyone who opposes Zanu, Also refuses to point finger at ED, Saving both from individual responsibility. But hypocritically, He fingers health minister.

He said in an interview today with Blessed Mhlanga, he’ll continue to advise Mnangagwa. Said he serves at the pleasure of the president & will not discuss what goes on in PAC coz he’s under oath. His loyalties are clear. But at the same time he’s advising us.
