"We're Concerned," WHO Speaks On Madagascar's COVID-19 'Cure'

The World Health Health Organisation has expressed concern over Madagascar’s coronavirus remedy herbal drink which has already attracted the interest of many buyers including countries and several businesses.

WHO says that there have not been scientific tests to establish the effectiveness of the remedy in curing the novel coronavirus. Speaking to Reuters, WHO Africa head Matshidiso Moeti said:

We are concerned that touting this product as a preventive measure might then make people feel safe.

This comes when a number of African countries have already placed orders amid reports that Guinea Bissau has received over 16,000 doses which it is distributing to the 14 other West African nations.

Reuters reports that Liberia’s Deputy Information Minister Eugene Farghon announced this week there was no plan to test the remedy before distribution.

The whole world is grappling with the virus and no approved vaccine has been found yet although medical scientists across the world have already begun testing their potential vaccines on human beings.
