WATCH: AU Chairperson President Ramaphosa Calls For Assistance Of Poor Countries

African Union Chairperson who is also South Africa’s president, Cyril Ramaphosa has called upon the international community to assist poor countries during the coronavirus crisis.

He also called for the removal of sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe and Sudan and also underscored the need for a waiver of all interest payments and international as well as bilateral debt to give the much needed fiscal space to African countries.

The distress call is made when some countries including Zimbabwe have already approached international financial institutions such as the International Monetary Fund seeking financial assistance which they say would go a long way in aiding the fight against COVID-19.
