Deported Fugitive Thief Arrested After COVID-19 Quarantine

A taxi driver from Victoria Falls was arrested soon after his release from the 21-day mandatory coronavirus isolation at Mosi-oa-Tunya High School quarantine centre following his return from Botswana.

Prosper Dziwanyika (32) of 4460 Chinotimba fled to Botswana earlier this year before he had completed community service following his conviction for malicious damage to property and theft on 24 February.

Victoria Falls magistrate Lindiwe Maphosa brought into effect the whole sentence of 12 months that had been suspended because Dziwanyika had willfully defaulted both community service and restitution.

He had earlier been convicted on malicious damage to property and theft after he cut fuel pipes from one Ndlovu’s two vehicles and drained 40 litres of petrol on January 14.
