Bulawayo Residents Sleep In Queues Waiting For Council Water Bowsers

Some Bulawayo residents are reportedly sleeping in long winding queues waiting for council bowsers to deliver water to them.

The Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association, (BPRA), said the council should urgently drill boreholes to alleviate the water challenges being faced by residents.

Chrispen Ndlovu, BPRA Ward 27 chairperson said some residents have resorted to digging wells on their properties risking contracting waterborne diseases. He said:

The water situation in Pumula South is very bad. Residents are sleeping in water queues waiting for the next deliveries. Women and children are the most affected by the crisis.

Something has to be done urgently for Ward 27 residents. Council should try to drill and repair more broken boreholes in the area.

About two weeks ago Bulawayo City Council increased its weekly water-shedding hours from 108 to 120 due to dwindling water volumes in its supply dams.

This has resulted in most households going for five days continuous days without running water.
