UN Seeking $84.9 Million Humanitarian Support For Zimbabwe - Report

The United Nations through its partners has launched a Global Global Humanitarian Response Plan (GHRP) in which it is seeking $6.7 Billion, with $84.9 million earmarked for Zimbabwe, The Herald reports.

The UN Resident Coordinator in Zimbabwe Ms Maria Ribeiro confirmed that the UN has updated its GHRP and said:

This additional appeal is part of the GHRP which will contribute to Zimbabwe’s national response on Covid-19, particularly addressing the most vulnerable, including children, the elderly, women, people with disabilities, people living with HIV, refugees, migrants, and those affected by drought and food insecurity.

Zimbabwe’s share will be used to respond to the immediate public health crisis including those posed by COVID-19 and the secondary impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on vulnerable people. Zimbabwe has been going through an economic turmoil before the COVID-19 pandemic started.
