MaShurugwi Strikes At A Gold Mine In Maphisa

Infamous machete-wielding gang members reportedly pounced on a gold mine in Maphisa, Matabeleland North, and got away with 12 half-filled 50kg bags of gold ore, Newsday reports. The incident reportedly took place at Goodcow Mine on Saturday and the 7 member gang was reportedly armed with machetes, axes and a firearm.

The incident was confirmed by Matabeleland South provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Philisani Ndebele who said this to the publication:

They have been arrested. Maphisa has been giving us a challenge as it is where we have been recording a number of robberies targeting mostly mines.

Machete-wielding gangs caused a reign of terror in gold-rich areas across the country end of last year till mid-Febuary this year.
