Harare City Council Upgrades Mupedzanhamo Market, Traders To Sell Other Wares Other Than Second Hand Clothes
The City of Harare is upgrading Mbare’s famous Mupedzanhamo Market, The Herald reports. Council Workers were reportedly seen re-zoning and marking the market’s bays to make sure each trader gets a 2-meter width to allow them to have more space between each other and maintain social distancing measures in line with WHO social distancing standards to curb spreading COVID-19.
The market which is used to sell second-hand clothes will open to traders selling other wares other than second-hand clothes following the government’s announcement it will enforce the second-hand clothes ban more effectively this time to try and curb the spread of COVID-19.
The city said it will help the government enforce the law when it comes to second-hand clothes being sold at Mupedzanhamo:
We will enforce the law, but not in isolation as we call other authorities including police and Zimra to ensure the movement of second hand clothes does not happen as we are at the tail end of the supply chain
