"Today I Got A New Lease Of Life" - Kuwait Human Trafficking Local Agent Speaks After Being Released From Prison Through The Presidential Amnesty

A Harare woman who torched a storm in 2017 for being a local agent for the people that trafficked people to Kuwait was among the 2528 people who were pardoned by President Mnangagwa yesterday, The Herald reports

Norest Marumha who was facing more than 50 years in jail,  was reportedly overjoyed when spoke to the publication and said she was happy she was given a new lease of life:

On my first day in prison, I was depressed. That was the same day thousands of pardoned inmates were leaving this place. That night I could not sleep. I was always in tears. However, I want to thank officers here who, through a series of counselling sessions, managed to calm me down until I accepted my situation.

Today I got a new lease of life. I am going out there as a new creature, completely changed for the better. I want to thank my President for giving us another chance

Some of the inmates who were pardoned had been in prison for over 20 years and they too expressed their joy when they left the prison gates for their various homes. One inmate had nowhere to go and was reportedly taken in by one Pastor Dickson Moyo from the Seventh-day Adventist Church who said he will stay with him till he locates his relatives.
