Biti Accuses Mnangagwa Of Trying To Destroy The MDC After Khupe Recalls MDC Alliance MPs
MDC Alliance vice president Tendai Biti has condemned the recall of his party’s three MPs from Parliament by the MDC-T led by Thokozani Khupe.
Khupe claims to be in charge of the MDC Alliance following a recent Supreme Court ruling which installed her as the MDC-T acting president an extraordinary congress.
In a statement, Biti said President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government was behind the recall. He vowed that the Alliance will not be intimated by the development. Said Biti:
The illegal recall of our MDC Alliance MP’s Chalton Hwende, Prosper Mutseyami and Chairperson Thabita Khumalo from Parliament is reflective of how paranoid and desperate Emmerson is in using the State to destroy our movement led by Advocate Nelson Chamisa. We are MDC Alliance, nothing else.
Throughout history, authoritarian regimes and their enablers have tried to hijack and crush people’s causes. We saw this in the fight against decolonization. Emmerson is not the first. The thing is the struggle for freedom and emancipation can never be smouldered by force or chicanery.

On Tuesday, Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Mudenda announced that Kuwadzana East MP Charlton Hwende, Chikanga-Dangamvura MP Prosper Mutseyami and Bulawayo East MP Thabitha Khumalo have been recalled as MPs by the MDC Alliance, under Thokozani Khupe’s direction.
Khupe said the three MPs were no longer serving the party’s interests.
