Serial Armed Robbers Nabbed

Two suspected members of a serial armed gang from Norton on Thursday appeared before the courts facing four counts of armed robbery and one of unlawful entry.

The Herald reports that the gang is suspected to be behind robberies which saw victims losing motor vehicles, cash and other valuables amounting to US$86 455 and $193 675.

The State told the court on Thursday that the gang allegedly committed the offences while armed with AK47 rifles and pistols.

The two who appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Richard Ramaboa are George Gift Dandemutande (28) and Robson Manezho (30), both of Marshlands Norton.

Magistrate Ramaboa remanded them in custody and advised them to apply for bail at the High Court saying their offences were very serious.

Meanwhile, the other two suspected members of the same gang, Sydney Chimiti (27) and Prince Gawe (25) appeared before the same courts on Thursday charged with armed robbery.

The duo, allegedly stole US$49 000, R9 000, $7 000, a Toyota Mark X, 10 mobile cellphones, clothes and other items from a Harare family while posing as potential clients for detergents chemicals.

Other members of the gang are allegedly still at large.
