ZIFA Keeping PSL In The Dark

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) is yet to communicate with the Premier Soccer League (PSL) about its plans for the resumption of football when the coronavirus pandemic is over.

CAF wrote to all its members last month, requesting information about the current situation of the national leagues and cups, as well as plans to finalise the competitions.

CAF requested that all Football Associations should submit all their proposals to see how they will restart their league action by May 5.

PSL communications manager Kudzai Bare told the Daily News that ZIFA has not yet communicated to them about the matter. She said:

We have not received communication from Zifa in that regard. We are still to hear from them.

The letter from CAF read in part:

We hope this letter finds you well during these difficult times our continent and the world is facing since the pandemic of Covid-19 which has consequently led to the suspension of football around the globe.

In view of the current circumstances, we would like to enquire about the current situation of your national leagues/national cup (ranking, number of pending matches etc…) as well as the strategies you intend to apply to finalise those competitions be it through completion or annulment.

We would appreciate receiving reply by May 5, 2020, in order to enable us to design a plan for the organisation on our inter-club competitions during next season.
