Fake COVID-19 Medical Facilities Alert

The Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa, has warned members of the public against seeking health services from unapproved coronavirus institutions.

She speaks amid reports that unapproved institutions are screening and testing for coronavirus while others are selling unverified coronavirus equipment.

The Minister made the remarks during her Covid-19 daily briefing at her Munhumutapa offices n Thursday. She said:

It has been noted that some unapproved individuals are attempting to take advantage of the global pandemic (by) selling unfit medical equipment and claiming to provide medical services.

Citizens, we urge you to seek services from registered health institutions. Where and when you are in doubt you should contact the national help lines 2019 for clinical issues and 2023 for non-clinical issues.

Mutsvangwa also indicated that the Ministry of Health and Child Care was in the process of assessing private facilities across the country to determine their suitability, or lack of it thereof, to attend to Covid-19 cases.

She added that once the process was over, the “approved facilities will be publicised.”
