"You'll See Us In The Next Few Weeks Announcing The Recovery Package," Mthuli Ncube

Finance Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube has said that the government is set to announce a recovery package in an endeavour to keep local companies afloat.

Ncube made the remarks during an interview with The Herald on the sidelines of his tours of Ekusileni Medical Centre in Bulawayo and Midlands State University (MSU)in Gweru on Friday.

He said that the package was meant to cushion companies from the effects of the national lockdown that President Emmerson Mnangagwa imposed on the country to stop the spread of coronavirus:

Another leg of saving livelihoods is to support companies so that we can retain jobs as we don’t want our people to lose jobs.

We want to create more jobs, which is precisely why we want to support companies to retain, expand and access working capital. You will see us in the next few weeks announcing the recovery package to deal with those issues and watch the space for that.

His remarks come when some companies are struggling to pay workers since they are not operating.
