A columnist for a weekly publication, The Standard, said Zimbabwe’s government officials are so shallow that the best they can do is copy South African President Cyril Ramaphosa in handling the coronavirus pandemic.
In the latest edition of the opinion piece by “Dr Stop It”, the author asserts that copying and pasting is the consequence of leadership that spends the country’s precious resources on useless trips gallivanting the world. The writer opined:
After Ngwena made his announcement extending the lockdown in Zimbabwe, many were not really surprised as they pointed out that because they have nothing original to offer Zimbabweans, our leadership just does a copy-and-paste job on what South Africa does.
So shallow is the level of leadership that we have to copy even basic stuff from South Africa.
Now as Zimbabwe we are already trying to domesticate “Proudly Zimbabwean”, which as we all know was “borrowed” from “Proudly South African”.
That is what happens when leaders spend most of their time earning allowances by embarking on fruitless trips around the world.
Zimbabwe initially announced a 21-day national lockdown commencing on 30 March a few days after the South African government announced similar measures to curb the spread of the deadly virus.
When South Africa’s lockdown was about to elapse, Ramaphosa announced an extension by another two weeks.
The Zimbabwean government also extended the lockdown by another 14 days, saying it had made the decision partly based on the measures being put in place by its neighbours.
Yes its boe copying
its not about copying who….SA is a power house in the SADC region and these two countries are direct neighbors and huge trading partners, be it goods or human resources…so its only befitting that they implement same policies as far as the covid-19 is concerned, what affects ZIM wil eventually affect SA, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY
Remember Zimbabwe is the Northern Province of South Africa, so ED always gets directives from the State House in Pretoria
It’s better to copy than to go opposite,what do you suggest ED should have done,trust me if it was you…you could have done the same!!!
