Underground Liquor Sales Thriving During The Lockdown - Report

Underground liquor sales are thriving despite restrictions imposed by the government to try and curb spreading COVID-19. As witnessed by a Sunday News reporter, one woman in Bulawayo CBD only identified as Mavis reportedly proudly proclaimed that these 3 weeks were profitable for her and she had run out of her hottest selling product, Gordon’s Gin.

Mavis said this to the Sunday News reporter:

All that you see here has been bought. People have been ordering boxes so we are now officially out of gin stock. The best that you can do now is some 1818 but with the way that people are buying I don’t expect that to last long too

Underground dealers have reportedly run out of the same gin according to the publication:

By yesterday afternoon, most underground retailers of gin had run out of the much-coveted product in the city. The few that had it in stock had already raised the price from the usual US$6 to as much as US$10.
