The Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr John Mangwiro, has on Sunday toured medical institutions that will be receiving coronavirus patients.

The Ministry of Health reports that Dr Mangwiro made a follow-up visit at Parinyatwa Hospital to assess progress on renovations towards the partial conversion of the Hospital into a COVID-19 isolation centre. Posting on Twitter, the Ministry added:

Dr Mangwiro also visited and toured various private hospitals in Harare that would receive COVID-19 patients including Arundel, St Annes and Corporate 24, to assess their level of preparedness and to ensure that their facilities conform to @WHO set guidelines and standards.

The tour comes when the country is gearing up its fight against the deadly virus. So far the country has recorded 25 cases of coronavirus including 3 deaths.
The first death exposed the country’s ill-preparedness to fighting the virus and the collapse of the health system in the country in general.
Meanwhile, there are some who argue that St Anne’s and Arundel hospitals which are being refurbished by Sakunda Holdings will be reserved for politiccal elites in the country.
The government refutes those claims saying the institutions are open to everyone.
