3 Members of a vapostori Church of Sungano Apostolic suffocated and died in a cave in Mutare where they have gone to pray, Newsday reports.

The incident was confined by Manicaland police spokesperson Tavhiringwa Kakohwa who narrated the ordeal to the publication and said the group was in the midst of a 7-day prayer session starting on 8 April when the incident occurred:

The following day (April 9) they continued with their prayers, during the night they felt cold and they entered into a cave and lit lamps.

Suddenly the cave was filled with smoke, some of the church members rushed out of the cave. While outside they realised that some of the members were missing. They went back into the cave and saw the three lying lifeless. They went on to report the matter to the police.

Kakohwa did not shed light as to where the smoke came from and the deceased are 3 young men all below the age of 29.
