Zimbabwean Returnees To Be Quarantined In Darwendale

The Zimbabwean government has confirmed the arrival of nearly three dozen citizens at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport on Monday afternoon.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Ndavaningi Nick Mangwana revealed that the 30 Zimbabweans arrived aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight today.

Mangawana added that the people came from different countries and all of them will be compulsorily isolated at ZIPAM in Darwendale, a few kilometres from Harare. He said:

30 Zimbabweans arrived aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight today. They are coming from a number of different countries and all of them are being compulsorily quarantined at ZIPAM in Darwendale.

Earlier reports had suggested that the Ethiopian Airlines flight was carrying 32 Zimbabweans travelling from the United Kingdom.

Following Mangwana’s announcement that 30 Zimbabweans had arrived and will be quarantined for the mandatory 21-day period, sceptics have questioned the variation from the figure stated by an online publication earlier in the day.

There are concerns that “the missing two people” could be well-connected and have thus been allowed free passage into the country without having to be quarantined in Darwendale.
