Botswana President And Entire Parliament Quarantined After Coronavirus Scare
Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi and that country’s entire Parliament will be quarantined for 14 days after a health worker who screened the legislators for coronavirus on Wednesday this week tested positive after attending to them.
Health Minister Lemogang Kwape told parliamentarians on Thursday that the health worker had tested positive for COVID-19 overnight. Kwape said:
The health worker had not shown any symptoms but had just taken a routine test. Unfortunately, the result came late on Wednesday after she had already been on duty at the parliament session.
FeedbackThe Director of Public Health Malaki Tshipayagae instructed all Parliamentarians including president Masisi to quarantine either at home or be taken to facilities designated by the government.
Botswana now has 13 confirmed cases.
