PICTURES: No Masks & No Social Distancing While Zimbabweans Shop During Lockdown. The Pick n Pay Experience

Pictures of Zimbabweans shopping at Pick n Pay in Ruwa during the government enforced lockdown show that there’s still not much willingness to wear masks (homemade or professional ones) or for social distancing.

This applied both to the shoppers as well as Pick n Pay staff.

The supermarket chain has however ensured that shoppers are tested for temperature before entering the stores and that their hands are sanitised too.

However, during a shopping visit by Pindula, no social distancing was being enforced and staff were not wearing any masks or practicing social distancing themselves.

Reports from other supermarkets chains show that most are not enforcing the wearing of masks or social distancing.

Though initially not recommended by WHO for people not showing any symptoms of COVID-19, masks are now recommended for everyone. People are now encouraged to even find ways of making home-made masks so that the professional masks are reserved for health professionals caring for the sick.
