Botswana Deportees Get Lifeline

The government has donated various sundries to at Plumtree High School, a COVID-19 isolation centre for over 260 Zimbabweans repatriated from Botswana.

The deportees have been living in squalid and unhygienic conditions at the school, waiting for the lapse of the 21-day lockdown period so that they could travel to their homes.

Mangwe District Development Coordinator Rolisang Makhurane confirmed that the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has donated blankets while the local authority has fixed the water situation. Said Makhurane:

We have received 200 blankets from Zimbabwe Revenue Authority Plumtree and 220 from Red Cross. We are also getting more blankets from Zimra Beitbridge.

We have also decongested the members and opened another hostel where we will separate males from females. Our water situation has improved.
