President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said that Zimbabwe will weigh on whether to continue with the national lockdown or relax the regulations.
He made the remarks after his tour of some suburbs in the capital Harare on Sunday. He visited Mabvuku, Tafara, Kuwadzana, Mufakose, Budiriro, Glen-View and Chitungwiza. The president said:
I wouldn’t want to prejudge our decision. We are going to review the situation. If we think that it is containable, we may go back because it has its own socio-economic impact. So, we have to weigh the possibilities of relaxing or continuing at the end of 21 days. But, what I can say is, currently, I am very happy with the response of our people.
Zimbabwe is on Day 7 of the lockdown which was imposed to stop the spread and transmission of the novel Coronavirus.
According to official reports, nine (9) people have so far tested positive for the virus and one of the cases has since died.
There are mixed feeling over the lockdown. Some citizens and businesses are already feeling the heat of the lockdown and are appealing for the relaxation of regulations while others are saying safety first, no compromise.

Whether we continue or discontinue the lockdown, it really makes no difference as the government seems clueless and financially and mentally bankrupt
For safety and acceptability go by the regional and international lockdown measures or strategies considering the capability challenges of the Health Sector, not so well capacitated. At least a minimum of two months lockdown through to end of May would be acceptable. Business insights, yes it’s true but fact of prevailing over this plague, it is a plague for real, very disastrous will not tolerate such naivity. Last but not least, you will not succeed much banking on application of law, law enforcement, financial resources all these have limitations and will not work. There is need to kneel before the ALFA and OMEGA a fact all of know well but still others speculating and denying. Zimbabwe , Africa and the world has been gifted to have Prophets yet those in power live and certainly like law unto themselves….Consult with the Servants of God what He wants…Which Church do you go to and Which Bible/s do they read in that your church? Anywhere do you read the Bible and if so Which Bible/s do you read?
Lockdown is a good move but Africa has so many infrastructural and economic weaknesses a continued lockdown may end up causing even worse problems. Herd immunity maybe the only way to go, as much as I dislike it.
But are we even testing ?
are we testing? are we disinfecting or something? as we speak, Bulawayo has no referral. so symptomatic people need to go to Harare’s Wilkins!
