Zimbabwe Police And Army Force Citizens To Jog, Singing About "Corona"

The Zimbabwe Republic Police have in a video below forced unidentified citizens to jog while singing “korona/corona shandira corona/korona” [corona’corona, work for corona/korona].

Korona is a Shona concept directly translated from the word Crown, like that of Kings. Christians believe that if they abide by God’s commandments, they will be given a crown on top of eternal life at the end of the times.

Therefore, Christians work for the Crown/Korona -shandira korona. Although the song is popular, the word korona in the lyrics of the song above is an intended pun when it is sung now. It is sung in the context of the coronavirus outbreak which resulted in the national lockdown.

It is not known when the video was shot but it is reasonable to assume that it was after the imposition of the national lockdown which confined citizens to their homes.

The victims were probably caught defying the decree and were then forced to jog and sing.
