Magaisa Speaks On What Will Happen To MDC Assets, Elected Officials

Alex Tawanda Magaisa a law lecturer in the United Kingdom has predicted that there is likely to be a new legal battle over the sharing of assets in the Movement for Democratic Change following the Supreme Court ruling which reinstated Thokozani Khupe at the helm of the party.

He also predicted that the MDC Alliance is likely to recall elected officials including Douglas Mwonzora and Morgen Komichi since they are siding with Thokozani Khupe.

In his Big Saturday Read, Magaisa who is a former advisor to Morgan Tsvangirai said:

The current judgment does not deal with assets but there may be legal battles over that issue… As they scramble over assets, someone is going to take responsibility for the debts. The likelihood that those who had exercised forbearance towards the party may come out in droves to assert their financial claims…

Indeed, the MDC Alliance may decide to (but need not be in a hurry) to recall those who have ceased to or may cease to belong to it.

Komichi and Mwonzora recently said that Chamisa cannot recall anyone from Parliament since the Supreme Court ruling will act as a deterrent.
