Mwonzora Speaks On Prospects Of Modish Khupe-Led MDC Joining POLAD

Reinstated Secretary-General of the opposition MDC, Senator Douglas Mwonzora has poured cold water on prospects of the redesigned MDC now led by Dr Thokozani Khupe joining the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) forum.

Mwonzora, like Thokozani’s nemesis, Nelson Chamisa, describes the POLAD forum as a circus which will not have any meaningful outcomes.

Speaking to The Zimbabwe Mail, Mwonzora who embraced the Supreme Court ruling which reinstated Khupe as the leader of the MDC said:

I don’t agree with President Mnangagwa at all. I don’t agree with his human rights record. I don’t agree with the way he is carrying on his political dialogue, the Polad and so on.

What I think is in the best interest of Zimbabwe is to have genuine dialogue before a neutral arbiter.

The MDC, under the leadership of Nelson Chamisa, refused to join the POLAD forum that was initiated by president Emmerson Mnangagwa while scores of presidential candidates in the 2018 election are participating.

The issue of dialogue, if not managed well, can trigger friction between Khupe and her newfound allies, Mwonzora and Komichi as well as others in the MDC since Khupe was, through her MDC-T a participant to the dialogue held on the POLAD forum.
