Govt To Set Up A Taskforce To Monitor Essential Goods Prices And Availability During The Lockdown- Nzenza

The government and the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe will during the lockdown make sure that basic commodities are available and guard against price fluctuations through a taskforce that will monitor price stability and basic good availability, The Herald reports.

This was released in a statement by Industry and Commerce Minister Sekesai Nzenza which said:

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce in conjunction with the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe will constitute a taskforce to monitor the price movements and availability of essential goods in addition to other consumer protection mechanisms during this period

The primary objective remains that of protecting the lives of the employees in these industries by adhering to the strictest occupational health and safety measures under the circumstances.

The task force comes after the government initiated a lockdown and announced a list of service providers who will be allowed to operate during the lockdown which is meant to curb spreading COVID-19.
