FULL TEXT: Bulawayo City Council Advises Residents On Services Available During Lockdown

The Statutory Instrument 83 of 2020, [Public Health (COVID -19 Prevention, Containment and Treatment) (National Lockdown) Order, 2020) states that:- Local Government organisations providing essential services such as hospital services, fire brigade and ambulance services, sewerage or sanitary services and supply and distribution of water are to remain open during the 21-day countrywide lockdown.

As such, the City of Bulawayo would like to advise members of the public and stakeholders that as per the Presidential Announcement of Friday, 27 March 2020 and as per the Special Council meeting resolution of Wednesday, 25 March 2020, the following measures will be implemented to ensure the smooth provision of Municipal services.

i. All clients wishing to contact the Municipality should do so on 02922 75011 or
through the website www.citybyo.co.zw or publicrelations@citybyo.co.zw.

ii. You can contact our Call Centre for reports on service faults throughout the lockdown period on 0800 4700 Tollfree for Telone Number only, 08084700 Tollfree for Econet Numbers Only, 02922 71290 for all networks, WhatsApp 0774 668 432 and email callcentre@citybyo.co.zw.

iïi. For Fire and Emergency Services, you can contact us on 02922 71717 – 9,993 and
994 Tollfree for landlines.

iv. The City of Bulawayo is discouraging visits to Municipal Offices by clients. Where
clients MUST visit the Municipal offices, there will be mandatory sanitising with an alcohol-based sanitiser and social distancing will be observed.

v. The City of Bulawayo would like to encourage members of the public to make use of
the digital payment platforms below instead of visiting the Municipal Revenue Halls. As a measure to protect our valued clients, customers and staff we kindly request that you visit the Revenue Hall, (Located along 9th Avenue and J Tongogara Street) ONLY when it is necessary.
